How long have you been in Monroe County?

I moved here in 1998 for graduate school in journalism and never left!

What is your involvement with NOW, and why did you get involved?

After the election, I felt powerless. Joining NOW has offered me a community with which to work toward positive change and stand up for what’s right.

How do you define “feminism”?

Feminism to me means equal rights for all people, regardless of gender identity, economic class, and race. We must all be advocates for one another – we’re all in this life together

Of NOW’s six priority issues, where are you most channeling your energy?

I’m most interested in constitutional equality, reproductive rights, racial justice & LGBTQ+ rights. I have a daughter and a son, and I want them to know how crucial it is to be engaged citizens.

When you aren’t working towards social change, what do you do for fun in your life?

Kickboxing, cooking, cuddling with my dog and reading (Jane Austen and Margaret Atwood are among my favorite authors), listening to rap, spending time with my wonderful kids and shuttling them to activities, and hanging out with my handsome, funny feminist husband.
