president
TammyJo Eckhart (she/her) is a decades long member of NOW who joined Monroe County's chapter when it formed in 2017. Since then she has served in various roles as part of the communication committee and election committee. She is honored to be able to serve as president for 2024 as we enter another contentious general election and fight to restore and expand our rights.

Natalia (she/her) is originally from Chicago, but now considers herself very much a Hoosier, having lived in Indiana now for most of her life. After leaving Bloomington after undergrad, she returned in August 2017 to volunteer in Indiana’s 9th District House race, along with some other state and local races, and is now very committed to working on progressive races in all corners of Indiana.
Natalia has previously served as our chapter President and Treasurer. She was impacted by her time as a volunteer for IU Dance Marathon and believes in trying to make the world a little better than how she found it. She enjoys some Bravo shows, cheering loudly both in parades and for the Black Key Bulls, sending “just because” care packages and notecards in the mail, Italian ice, making things look pretty and quoting Dr. Seuss. “Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not.”
Mandy Yates
Treasurer
Mandy (she/her) is an accidental activist, which began in late 2016 as an original convener of Monroe County NOW. She has previously served as Monroe County NOW’s President, Communications Director, as a member of the 2017 Leadership Council, and as the Liaison Chair to the Legislative Action Committee. Mandy has also been the chapter newsletter editor from 2017 to present. Mandy came to Bloomington in 1996 and never left, receiving her BA and MLS from Indiana University. She stays busy as a wife, stay-at-home mother, fitness instructor, and volunteer. Outside of her activist work, Mandy teaches Pilates and barre classes at the Monroe County YMCA and regularly volunteers at the Monroe County Public Library and the Binford Elementary library.
Heather Glass
Secretary
Heather (she/her) is a Bloomington native with an interest in social justice, reproductive rights, and housing equity. She works as an administrative professional and writes short fiction in her spare time. These skills and passions helped bolster her drive to take on the role of chapter secretary.
She looks forward to supporting the MC NOW board and its members in any way that she can. When Heather isn’t smashing the patriarchy, she enjoys reading and hanging out with her dog, Rosie.
julie hardesty

Julie (she/her) grew up in southern Indiana and has called Bloomington home since the 1990s. She has been involved in various efforts focused on the environment, community art, and Monroe County NOW. NOW’s goals to support women and historically marginalized communities definitely match Julie’s interests and she believes MC NOW is amazing, resourceful, and compassionate. A larger goal of Julie’s is to treat what is termed activism as a part of being an average US citizen--not an extra part of life but a practice that is long-term, consistent, and never-ending. Showing up is literally half the battle and Julie has been showing up with MC NOW since it started in January 2017.
